TEN STEPS TO FREEDOM
Remember when we were children how free we felt? Nothing bothered us. Ever wonder why that was? It could be because we knew we had parents that loved us, nurtured us and took very good care of us. Now we have a parent, God, whose love runs deeper than any earthly parent. God has been speaking so much to my heart about wanting His people to be free. Many of us are in prisons of our own making. Some of us are in prisons of religions. God is calling us to "Come Out Of Her!" in these days. Come out of what? Our man made religions for one. And the pursuit of earthly things for another. It's time to develop that childlike trust and faith in our heavenly Father. We didn't strive for things when we were children, our parents supplied us with whatever we needed. When will we learn to rest in that way with our Father? He longs to supply us all our needs, over and above what we even expect! Being a little child and just climbing on our Father's lap and trusting Him with whatever needs we have is true freedom to me. God wants us to experience real freedom through His Son, Jesus Christ.   To get to this place we need to become as a little child and to obey God and walk more and more in the Spirit and less in the flesh.

Step 1: COMMITMENT

The first step to real freedom, freedom in God, freedom with ourselves, freedom from this world, is to fully and completely commit our own will to be free. We need to make that decision to fully lay down our own wills to the will of God in every area of our lives. If we don't want to be free, there is no way that anyone or anything can for us to be free. If a person is an addict, homosexual, adulterer, murderer, and they do not WANT to be free, they will never be free. Each of us has a free will land God will not come against our free will. So we have to make the decision to allow God to free us. When we set our hearts to serve God will all our hearts, He prepares the way, it will be a path of total and complete freedom. He will set us free in a very large place. God's first requirement then is that we wish to be free and that we set our will for total freedom. We need to desire freedom more than life itself. True Freedom requires 100% commitment of the will.

Step 2: TRANSPARENCY

The second step towards freedom requires an honest look to see that your needs are as God sees them and to honestly expose your needs. If we went to the doctor's office and told him we had a problem, an infirmity of some kind, yet refused to disrobe in order for him to thoroughly check us out then he would probably say: "Well I guess we will have to wait until your willing to disrobe before I can check the problem out and fix it."   If we desire true freedom given to us by the Lord, we need to be willing to expose the deepest areas that hurt. Areas we have kept hidden for so long. After all, we need to remember that nothing is hidden from God. So why not expose it and bring it to the light so God can deal with it? Only Satan loves to keep things hidden so they can continue to operate in our lives! It's important to reveal those areas to God, to ourselves, and perhaps to someone who is able to counsel us. If we are not willing to do these things then we can't expect God to set us free. The root of this is pride! And this root will make us unable to receive help. We have to be willing to humble ourselves, for before honor comes humility. It's like a mother delivering her baby, once that child is born nothing else matters. What we keep hidden may be an awful thing to us that we don't dare bring out, but once it is out, we will see that it wasn't that bad after all and the freedom we experience was well worth it.

Step 3: SALVATION

This step is one of the most important ones we will ever take! This step to freedom is to really know that we have fully committed our way to God through His Son, Christ Jesus. It's accomplished by asking Jesus into our hearts and receiving Him as Savior, Lord, Master and God. It is absolutely necessary to submit our lives and all that we are and have , and yes our will too, totally to Jesus. For He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other way to get to the Father except by Jesus Christ. There is no other way to enter Heaven for all eternity except through Jesus Christ.   If we desire and need   His help then we must join His Kingdom and become part of the family of God.   When we do this we become His child.

Step 4: WATER BAPTISM

Salvation is the wonderful miracle of being born again. In other words being born in the Spirit. That is when we have experienced the Love of Christ in our lives. After this we need to be baptized by immersion, this is the next step to freedom. It is not the sprinkling of a little water on our heads, this is not the Biblical way. We need to go down completely immersed into the water and bury the "works of the flesh".   This is a testimony that we are being burried in Christ, dead unto Christ.   And when we come up out of the water, it is a testimony that we are rising up (resurrected) into the life of Christ. This is a sealing by the Holy Spirit, it is the death and burial of our sinful and carnal nature and the resurrection of our new nature in Christ. We must come to recognize that our ''old man'' is dead to sin and that a totally new life emerges from the water in the glory and image and likeness of Jesus Christ. There has to be a definite commitment to bury the old nature and the expectation of the resurrected new man in Christ.

Step 5: SPIRIT BAPTISM

This step is to receive the gift of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is the power of God to enable us, as Christians, to joyfully live the Christian life. This is where we are endued (filled) with the power from God on high. Each one of us, that are willing to be obedient, has this experience waiting for us and we should ask for to have victory in our Christian walk and a holy boldness, courage and confidence for ministry.

Step 6: HOUSE CLEANING

The next important step which many Christians overlook is that a thorough housecleaning for purity of possessions. Housecleaning is to remove anything in our homes that is ungodly, anything that brings back memories of ungoldy situations; anything that we own or posses which would not glorify the Lord Jesus Christ; anything that we have that we would not want the Lord to see if He returned today. To be free these things will need to be destroyed or removed from our ownership and living control area. Things like pornography, idols of any kind, objects or books which have to do with sorcery, occult of any kind. It's very easy to find out what things do not please God....just read His Word! We are only responsible for the area in which we have total control. Some thing we may give away as things which are neutral in themselves but bring us memories or thoughts of past sinful situations. any tarot cards, ouija boards and other demonically inspired works of art need to be destroyed and burned. Books on the occult (Harry Potter books included), books promoting the false kingdoms of this world, things or books that are ungodly in any way at all, regardless of how valuable, needs to be destroyed. You can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what it is that needs to go. When He shows you, do it quickly. Don't put it off.

Step 7: CONFESSION

Step seven is the confession of all sins in our past live which may be blocking our spiritual growth. As we go back over our old lives and memories, from the time we were born, we will fee areas in our spirit like a splinter under our skin where it is still sensitive; where there is still hate for someone, blame towards God or a hangover feeling of pain, these are the areas where we need to confess our sins and ask God for forgiveness through Jesus Christ. If we have stolen things, we need to repent to the owner, take things back or make restitution. Much bondage is buried under our piles of hurt and pain. It needs to be brought to the surface and then buried in the sea of God's forgetfulness. This is an important step to complete freedom.   We need to remember that when we confess these things our slates are clean and we are washed as white as snow. It's just as important to believe we are forgiven!

Step 8: FORGIVENESS

Forgiveness of others for everything in the same depth as we desire our Heavenly Father to forgive us for everything we have ever done. We cannot hold bitterness toward God or anyone and be free. We must not only forgive others but sometimes the most difficult part is to forgive ourselves. If we have trouble forgiving ourselves, we need to remember that god in Jesus Christ died for our sins and that He loves us with an everlasting and eternal love. If He finds reasons to love us how can we fight against God? We need to make sure that we have no bitterness towards God, against ourselves, or against others for anything. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, and we need to apply that sacrifice of His blood on the Cross in forgiveness in everything. When we refuse to receive that forgiveness we are saying that what Jesus did on the cross was not enough!

Step 9: SEVER CONTROLS

We need to renounce any and all ungodly control from our lives, either present or past. There is a type of control that makes us perform or do thing which we know in our hearts is not right. Sometimes this control comes from people we love or hate very much. This could be a boyfriend/girlfriend, a parent, spouse, employer, brother/sister etc...In our steps to freedom, we must renounce and cut ourselves off from any and all manipulative control that includes threat, bribe, shame, glory, criticism, judgment, fear, hate or flesh. We have to make sure we don't operate in any of these things also. The only motivation that God uses is loving influence for complete understanding. Any time anyone exerts and ungodly control over us that is contrary to Jesus, we need to renounce the association by the blood of Jesus and refuse to obey it any longer. Many churches today are operating in some of these things and we had better be aware and get out of these places. Many times our liberty in Jesus is destroyed because we submit ourselves to negative spiritual controls of people we love and hate. The fear which motivates us to obey ungodly controls must be broken to be fully free in Christ Jesus. God's standard for right living is found in Scripture. He is bound by His Word. He will never lead us to do something that is contrary to His Word or that Jesus would not do. Be very sure that your light is not really darkness.

Step 10: RESIST SATAN

The last step is simply to resist the devil and he will flee. Just say NO! Use the blood of Jesus to get the demons off your back, out of your minds and thoughts, out of every area of your lives. Demons clearly have no power over us as we are in Jesus Christ (Revelation 12:11) There is no authority greater than that of Jesus, The Christ. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords! We can enjoy great victory in life through these ten steps.   God bless you and keep you free in Him!
